Rolling Stones Get Funky on Purple Disco Machine Remix of ‘Hackney Diamonds’ Track “Mess It Up” — Listen

In its original form, “Mess It Up” was one of the high points of The Rolling Stones‘ acclaimed new album, Hackney Diamonds.

A track featuring drums recorded by the late Charlie Watts, it just felt primed for the dance floor with its subtle disco rhythms:

The collaboration between the Rolling Stones and Purple Disco Machine (German producer/DJ Tino Schmidt) is a melding of musical powerhouses. As a news release sums up:

As for Hackney Diamonds, the album is the Stones’ first of original material since 2005.

A record featuring guest spots from Elton John, Paul McCartney, Lady Gaga, Stevie Wonder and more, a strong initial push landed the album a No. 3 debut — helping the Stones extend their record for the most top 10-charting albums in the history of the list, as Hackney Diamonds debuts at No. 3, marking the group’s 38th top 10 effort. With Hackney Diamonds, the Rolling Stones have turned in one of their strongest albums in decades. The record has landed to near-universal acclaim, and it’s not hard to understand why. They sound as refreshed, re-energized and focused as they have in quite some time.
